☑ Today we will know the subject of why "Ghat"(Pot) or "MangalGhat"(Pot of mars) is used during Puja in Hinduism.(Taken from Sanatan Dharma):
☐ Use of "MangalGhat" in traditional Hindu religion:
Many have wondered since childhood, Why is Mangalghat used during Pujo?Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja, Manasa Puja can be seen the use of Mangalghat in almost all of them.Mangalghat(pot of mars) has to be established in any pujo of the Hindu religion. Mangalghat is not an idol of any god or goddess. The Mangalghat (pot of mars) is a symbol of the formless state of God. We worship the formless state of God during worship, but we also worship the form of idol. Therefore, placing Mangalghat (pot of mars) is very important in every pujo.
The Worship is considered incomplete without the Mangalghat ( pot of mars). Those who are involved in the work of worship i.e. we know many elements are used in the Mangalghat (pot of mars). Such as Panch Shasya, Panch Gudi, Panchpallab, Pancharatna, Jal, Mati, Coconut or (Dab), Towel, etc. Today we will know about these elements. One, the pot is a replica of our body. The Pith (back) is made with Panch Gudi during puja. This Panchaguri is the symbol of Panchamahabhuta (Kshiti, Op, Tej, Marut, Byom). The back of this Panchamahabhuta is made of clay.
Five grains (Panch Shasya) are given on the clay altar. These five grains symbolize our five virtues (lust, anger, greed, delusion, and matsarya). Mangalghat is presented in this. The Mangalghat (pot of mars) symbolizes our body. In spiritual language, the body is also called Dehghat (pot of body). The five gems (Panch Ratna) that are placed inside the soil are the symbol of these five senses (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin). And It is filled with water. This water is Deharas or blood.

The Panchapallava that is given in ghat is the symbol of this Panchavayu (Pan, Apan, Udyan, Saman, and Ban). And green coconut( or Dab) is given on it. We all know that coconut has eyes, mouth, and nose like our face. That is why coconut is the replica of our face. If there is a head, it has to be covered, so we put a towel or cloth on the coconut in the Mangalghat ( pot of mars) as per the Hindu religion.
Because we know that the Mangalghat is the replica of our body. And the kantakathi (Kant stick ) that is given is the symbol of the four Vedas (Rik, Sam, Jajuh, Atharva). This is how the Mangalghat ( pot of mars) is placed as per the Hindu religion to indicate the auspicious environment as we belong to an original environment. This was the topic of today's use of Ghat or Mangalghat (pot of Mars).
