One Another Form of Mother "Adyashakti Mahamaya" (Ashtarupa)

The eight forms of Goddess Kalika or her  "Ashtarupa" or "Ashtadha":

Today we are going to know about "Goddess Kalika and her Ashtarupa" or "Ashtadha", a form of the mother "Adyashakti Mahamaya" from "Purana and Tantra" literature. Many sages or pious express their many opinions and views about the form of Mother Kalika. In the Tantra Purana, there are a lot of descriptions of multiple forms of Goddess Kali.

According to Toral Tantra, mother Kalika has eight forms. There are nine types of descriptions of forms of Goddess Kalika in the Mahakala Sanhita again. The thirteenth form of Goddess Kalika has been elaborated in Abhinav Gupta's Tantralok and Tantrasara. But these eight forms of Mahakali are mainly given dominance in Bengal and India.

1) Dakshina Kali: - Dakshina Kali is the most famous and popular form of Goddess. According to our traditional belief, the goddess is worshiped as Shyamakali in Bengal. Dakshina Kali Karalbadani, Muktkeshi, Chaturbhuja and Mundamala Vibhusita. Normunda and sword in his left hand, Bar and Abhay coins in his right hand. According to the old Tantra, the ruler of the south, Yam, fled in fear of this goddess.

2) Siddhakali:- One another spectacular form of the goddess is Siddhakali. Devoutly worshiped by a great saint this goddess is imagined as a  form of two-armed. According to Kalitantra, she is again Brahmarupa Bhubaneswari to many devotees.

3) Guhya Kali: -
such goddess is kept away from householders. Because this form of her is very horrible. This goddess is black with two-armed, and she has fifty garlands of Normund(নরমুন্ডের) around her neck, black clothes on her waist, braid on her head(জটা), and half-moon.

4) Mahakali: - According to the Puranas, Mahakali has ten hands and eyes. The goddess carries a sword, a Chakra, a mace, a bow and arrow, a Parigh, a scepter, a bhusundi, a narmund, and a conch (খড়্গ,চক্র,গদা,ধনুক-বাণ, পরিঘ, শূল, ভুসুন্ডি, নরমুন্ড ও শঙ্খ ). Although it is Bhairavi, there is a big difference between this goddess and Guhya Kali. Because it is known from Puranas that after looking fear of the goddess, but she blesses for beauty or form, good fortune, (Kanti and Shri) to the devotees.

5) Bhadrakali: - Goddess Bhadrakali is the one who blesses for the welfare of the living at the time of death. According to Kalika Purana and Tantra, the form of this Kali is different. According to Tantra, Kotarakshi, Khudhitas, Muktkeshi, Devi(Goddess) has swallowed the world.

6) Chamunda Kali: - According to Bhagavata Purana and Markandeya Purana, Chamunda Kali or Goddess Chamunda was born from the forehead of Goddess Durga to slay two demons named "Chanda" and "Mund"("চন্ড" ও "মুন্ড"). The color of the goddess's body is like a blue lotus, with arms, rods, and a crescent in her hands. At the juncture of Durgapujo's Mahastami and Maha Nabami, the goddess Chamunda is worshiped in Bengal, which is known as Sandhipujo.

7) Cremation Kali(শ্মশান কালী): - The Goddess has been named Cremation Kali as this Kali is worshiped in the Cremation. According to the Tantrasadhak Krishnananda Agambagish, the color of the body of the Goddess is Kajal black, the eyes are blood pink, the hair is unkempt, the body is dry and terrible. According to the Puranas, Sarada Devi, the wife of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, worshiped Kali in Dakshineswar.

8) Sri Kali: - It is known from the Puranas that Devikali killed a demon named Daruk in this form. It is said that he entered the body of Mahadev and became black due to drinking the poison of his neck. Goddess Kali is holding a trident like Shiva and is surrounded by snakes.
