|| Handwritten Constitution of India || Who wrote this ||

Dr. Ambedkar is called the father of the Indian Constitution. But it is not known that this huge constitution was written entirely by hand. No instrument was used to write the constitution.

An Unknown History of Indian Constitution | Dr Ambedkar | Father of Indian Constitution

This huge constitution was written in italic style calligraphy in his own hand by a Delhi resident named "Shri Prem Bihari Narayan Rayzada". He was a famous calligraphy writer at that time. He was born on 16th December 1901 in Delhi. He lost his parents in his childhood. He became a human being to his grandfather.

His grandfather Shri Ramprasad was a calligrapher. His grandfather used to teach him calligraphy art from his childhood for the wonderful handwriting of Prem Bihari.  After graduation from St. Stephen's College, Prem Bihari started practising calligraphy.
Nehruji wanted the constitution to be published in Italicized handwriting, not in print. That is why he called Prem Bihari. He said that he wanted to write the constitution in italic style by hand and also paid a fee in return.

Prem Bihari replied, "Not a single penny, by the grace of God I have all the things. I am quite happy with my life. After saying this, he made a request to Jawaharlal Nehru and said, "I have one reservation on every page of the constitution. I will write my name on the last page. I will write my name along with my grandfather's name."

Nehru granted his request.  He was given a specific house to write this constitution.  While sitting there, Prem Bihari wrote the entire manuscript of the constitution by hand. Before writing it, Prem Bihari went to Santiniketan with the President of India Shri Rajendra Prasad.

Nandalal Bose and some students of Santiniketan painted impeccable paintings on the blank pages of the constitution. They embellished their drawings with a variety of unique images from Mohenjo-daro seals, Ramayana, Mahabharata and others.
All in all, it looks like a picture of the history and geography of India.

Prem Bihari used 432 pen holders and 303 nibs to compose the Indian Constitution.  The nibs were brought from England and Czechoslovakia. Prem Bihari wrote the manuscript of this constitution for a long six months in a room of the Constitution Hall of India. 251 pages and parchment paper were used to write the constitution.  The constitution weighed 3 kg 650 grams. It was 22 inches long and 16 inches wide.

This great man died on 16th February 1966. The original text of the Indian Constitution is now carefully preserved in the Library of the Parliament House, Delhi.

The above part shows how an Indian had the mentality of writing a great and important piece, like the Constitution of India without pay.  Today, after so many years, we have to bow our heads in honour of him for this great work.

Today his writing  is our Constitution of India through which today India is moving forward with respect to the past, present and future.
