This jail is covered by seven wings.Just as the Octopus holds its enemy with its eight Wings, this prison holds the revolutionaries with its seven Wings.Currently, no more prisoners are detained in this jail. Every bricks, woods  and stones are the witness to the glory of self-sacrifice of a patriot.Entering  the jail's boundaries, everyone will be barbed.Only three wings of the jail's windows are still standing. One of the remaining four may have been destroyed during the Second World War or some may have been destroyed by the tsunami.

This island was touched by a great man like Netaji Subhash Chandra because of the brutality of the foreign nation's murder and occupation.

Description of cellular Jail interior

This jail building has three floors.  In these wings total number of rooms are  693.The dimensions of rooms were 14.8 x 8.9 feet.  It was about ten feet from the ground. There was only one squirm in the room and that too 9 feet above.

The cells were arranged in such a way that one prisoner could not communicate with another prisoner.Savarkar, the revolutionary hero, was imprisoned in one such three-storey cell in the south-east corner of the jail. Currently, there is a large oil painting of Savarkar in that room.Below it is the hanging room.  Where three people were hanged together.  The brutal scene was shown to the other prisoners. The houses on either side of the main gate have now been converted into museums.  Pictures of the prisoners and their used items are also stored there.
