☑ The Story of some Famous Physicians(Doctors) of ancient 'Chittaranjan' Town in West Bengal: So let's see what were their great works and responsibilities:
There was no hospital in Chittaranjan in the previous days. Kabiraji treatment was practiced in palanquins from village to village. At this time a Santal Kabiraj named Chatur Majhi was very famous. He lived in Baramuri village. Patients used to come to him from far away places. He was the only hope for the sick.
Kali Mukherjee, an LMF graduate, used to visit the area in 1939 wearing a hat on his head while riding a bicycle. His father was Biren Mukherjee, station master of Bianchi station. Despite the boy's reluctance, he almost forcibly sent him here to practice medicine. The Jemari region was then surrounded by dense jungles and mountains.
Another doctor used to come to this area. He was from "Chhotakar" village near Gourandi. His name was Dr. Moti Maji.
Although the exact time is unknown, but one another doctor from Mihijam was heard to be Dr. Runu Ghosh. He was the MBA pass badge at those time. He came from Calcutta and bought land near Mihijam School and built a house. This great man also used to treat the poor for free. Many dying patients have come back to life as a result of his good treatment. The people of the village named him "Bhagwan Doctor".
Kabiraji, in addition to allopathy from the very beginning, Paresh Banerjee, the homeopathic doctor of Mihijam, was the only hope for the poor and needy. Starting from Amladahi, he used to go to the villages of Sundar Pahari(North), Baramuri, etc. to see the patients. He came to Mihijam at the beginning of the First World War. Due to his blood relation with Vidyasagar Mahasaya, he also used to go to Vidyasagar's house in Karmatar.
✤ At the request of Binoy Roy, the zamindar of Mihijam, he practiced medicine in Mihijam. Later, as he liked the place, he built a house there. He made Mihijam famous by making homeopathy and snakebite medicine alone. In 1917, he built a charity clinic. At that time there were only ten or twelve inhabitants in the villages of this region. There was no electricity. When the people of the village suddenly became seriously ill, he would run out of the night with a lantern; he would also provide food and food.
Yogindra Singh was a loyal worker of this Paresh Babu. When the people of the village came to ask for help, Paresh Babu would call this Yogindra Singh and tell him to help as needed; For example- "Give him two rupees, give him one rupee". Although the money was given by Paresh Babu himself. There were plans to enlarge the yard of Chittaranjan railway station but the railway line was not extended further considering Paresh Babu's charitable hospital.
✤ Mihijam Homeopathy College was later established according to the wishes of Paresh Babu. Later, Paresh Banerjee's worthy son Parimal Banerjee and later his great-grandchildren continued their treatment in this Mihijam area. At present, however, their loyal students maintain that trend in the region. Although this homeopathic remedy is not so important in human life today, that glorious moment of ancient Mihijam has largely disappeared today.
My today's dedication was to the great physicians of ancient Chittaranjan. Who devoted themselves to the treatment of poor indigenous people for free. It is not that they were very anonymous people, they have proved their generosity by devoting themselves to the service of the poor. This is still an instructive subject for us today and at the same time, it will be a matter of our pride but will remain forever.
