She was an Indian actress.  His real name was Rama Dasgupta.

He was born on 6 April 1931 in Pabna, then in East Bengal.  Father Karunamay Dasgupta was a teacher by profession.  The girl's name was first named Krishna because her skin colour was a little dark.  

The name was given by Krishna's grandfather Jagbandhu Dasgupta.  The girl started growing up under the name of Rama by dropping the veil named Krishna. Meanwhile, Karunamay Dasgupta has been transferred from Patna to Pabna, Bangladesh  Rama spent his childhood and adolescence in Pabna.

Rama was the fifth child and third daughter of the family.  He studied in Pabna.  She was also the granddaughter of poet Rajinikanth Sen.  
Rama was married in 1947 to Divanath Sen, son of prominent industrialist Adinath Sen.  At least you can guess who Rama is?  Yes, this is that Rama;  Suchitra Sen is the heroine of our Rupoli screen.

 The only daughter of Adinath and Suchitra is named Munmun Sen.  Suchitra Sen was the first to join the Bengali film world in 1952.  Her first appearance as an extra artist was in 1951 in "Atom Bomb". Her first movie as a heroine was released in 1953 as "Prisoner of Number Seven".

Apart from Uttam Kumar, his pairing with Basant Chowdhury and Soumitra Chatterjee later gained popularity.  The actress starred in seven Hindi films, most notably Dilip Kumar opposite "Devdas" and Sanjeev Kumar's "Adhi".

Suchitra Sen was nominated for the "Dadasaheb Phalke" award in 2005 but was not given the award due to her objection to going to Delhi to receive the award in person from the President of India.

Suchitra Sen was the first Bengali film actress to win an award from the International Film Festival.  Some of the films he starred in were:

👉 ** Awards & Honors **

At the Third Moscow International Film Festival in 1963, she was awarded Best Actress for her role in "Seven Packs".  She was also nominated for Best Actress for her role in "Mamata". In 1972, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her outstanding achievements in the film industry.

  Suchitra Sen died at the age of 82 on January 17, 2014, at 8:25 am Indian time at the Bellevue Hospital in Kolkata.
