● Navapatrika is a special part of Durga Puja in Bengal. When one goes to the Durga Puja mandapa, one can see a banana tree covered with a red fringe white sari or a red fringe yellow sari next to Ganesha. Many call her Kalabau or Ganesha's wife. But this is not Ganesha's wife at all. It is called "Navapatrika" or "Kala Bou". She is the mother of mother Durga i.e. Ganesha. The names of the wives of Ganesha are Riddhi and Siddhi.

1) Kadali or Rambha (banana tree): - Goddess "Brahmani" is the presiding deity of Kadali tree.

These nine goddesses are worshiped together as "Navapatrika Basini Navadurga".
● Now all these are combined with a sapling banana plant and eight other root saplings, tied with a pair of bells, white aparajita vine, red fringe, white sari or red fringe, yellow sari, the veil is given shape to the bride and she is placed under the bell tree on the evening of 6th.
